Idli ….. my husband’s all time favorite tiffin, is a healthy breakfast with simple ingredients. Here it goes…
Grease idli maker plates with oil and fill them with idli batter. pour enough water in Idli maker. And put on stove on high flame for 5 minutes. Then reduce the flame to medium and cook for about 10 minute or till idlis or cooked upto 90%. Then reduce the flame to low and cook for 5 more minutes. This heat management gives you very soft idlis. So adjust flame correctly. If you don’t have that much time then you can cook the idlis in medium flame for 15 minutes or till cooked.
Switch off the stove and wait for 5 minutes. Now remove the idli plates and dip a sharp spoon in water and gently remove the idlis from plates.
Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
1. Dont remove the idli plates immediately because if you remove plates immediately idlis may stick the plates. And before taking idlis out from plates sprinkle some water and then remove so that idlis will come out as it is. Hope this tips helps lot of people because many struggles in taking idlis from idli plates.
2. To check whether idlis or done or not, insert spoon inside the idli if spoon comes out clean then idlis are done otherwise wait for some more time.
